Tabatabaee-Nejad named head of 39th Fajr Film Festival

Seyyed-Mohammad-Mehdi Tabatabaee-Nejad is named head of the 39th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Seyyed-Mohammad-Mehdi Tabatabaee-Nejad has been appointed as the head of the 39th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in Iran.

Tabatabaee-Nejad was appointed as the gala's secretary on Wednesday by Hossein Entezami, the chairman of the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs.

Tabatabaee-Nejad will substitute Ebrahim Daroghazadeh, who headed the last three editions of the festival.

The fate of the 2021 edition of the festival, which is scheduled for February, remains uncertain, and it is still unclear whether the festival will shift to online screenings or not.

The FFF coincides with the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the FFF has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
